woo! april is going pretty well, all things considered. since there's not much to do besides work, write and play games - i've been pretty productive. (and i'm trying to two of those things less, i'll let you guess which ones ;]) i do want to work on my programming again with all this stay at home time, so maybe once everything is over and ..things recover, maybe i'll find another job. still. gotta do something productive or else i'm going to feel bad.
mechs in space is going really well, and its probably because it has an outline. i hate to admit that planning/plotting is ..actually a good idea. dammit, now i'm going to have to do it every time. ;]
so i hit my word count goal pretty early so i decided to raise it.. we'll see if i can manage 50k this month, but since i'm home all the time, you'd think so. (even if i failed 5k weekend lol) i'm finding that writing during the week has been easier than the weekends since i'm on my laptop all day anyway (you know, working ;]).
as far as quarantine life is going - i'm doing okay actually! working from home is working out for me, mostly. i went into the office last week to grab something and its like a sauna in there, so not particularly looking forward to going back. (and i'd like to take a vacation sometime in the next .. year)
I know when I was working I loved working from home, I actually focused better when I was at home than in the office. (Because in the office there were actual adults I got to talk to! Whereas at home I just wanted to finish all my work quickly so I could play video games, lol)
Currently 686,146/ 750,000 Currently working on:"Vector: Stranded"
the end is near! i'm so close to 50k, even though these last 10k of words are like pulling teeth. but then.. it's time for mermay! i have the most basic idea that isn't even really much beyond whatever i came up with in the planning party, lol. my goal is to try and outline it sometime before may starts but it might have to wait until camp is over. (then i can't forget to finish mechs in space either! argh)
my mom's birthday is this week and i have no idea what to get her. sorry you can't go outside - here's uh.. i have no clue. was thinking of some sort of crafty type thing she could maybe do. we'll see! (why can't i just send people money??)
@Lokanya - i'm enjoying my work from home time! definitely get more writing done where i can just take a short break where no one is judging me. (sometimes i set up my PC to play an easy game.. lol)

You can totally knock out that last 10k, I know. For your mom, could you get her something that comes in the mail? Like a crafty loot crate, monthly mystery, or something that she could look forward to? I feel you, though. My mom's super bummed she can't go to the beach next month, since has been her yearly tradition forever.
april is over and it was a success! i actually completed camp for the.. first time ever, i think? with a complete 50k! the mech novel is only about .. maybe halfway done, so there's a ways to go with it, though i'm going to be taking a short break to work on mermay. ;]
may goals are back to normal! i'm not really sure how long mermay is going to be, i'm not aiming for it to be super long but since i didn't really plan the whole latter half, who knows what will happen! i do want to keep working on mechs, so i don't forget about finishing it, lol.
i don't really have too much to update with - mermay is going along. not quite sure where yet, but it's getting there! i have at least some ideas with what to do with it at least for the next few parts lol. (yes i'm sending the mc into the pit of the crazy merfolk science experiments who eat people)
yesterday's planning party reminded me to not abandon mechs for too long though! it still needs finished too. ;]
yay goals! i "completed" my mermay goal, even if i kinda gave up on my story (pantsing didn't work out for me in that case..) part way through the month. maybe i'm finally learning my lesson about plotting? .. probably not.
on the other hand, i am getting quite close to my yearly goal, which at this rate, i'll hit sometime in the summer? which might make this the first time i've ever actually achieved my wriye goal, lol. i haven't thought about what i'll raise it to, i figure i can deal with that once i actually hit 200k. ;]
now, on to the .. RaTs Novel! which turned into a challenge over discord. i'm still working out the details on mine, but i've randomly generated a map and the very basic idea because i don't have to stick to a timeline is to make it involve.. time travel. because WHY NOT. also .. for confusion. mwhaha.
• write 15,000 words (19,210 / 15,000) • continue 4thewords streak (141 / 154) • complete mermay story (~15,000 / 15,000) • begin RaTs novel!
i've met pretty much all my goals but i'm ready to move on. june is going to be focused on finishing (maybe???) mechs and working on that title challenge novel. as of right now, i picked Electric Chaos and i'm excited to turn it into a cyberpunk novella that takes place in the real world (i know!) except one .. in the future. ;] can't get too close to reality, now. i've been playing Shadowrun Returns, which is a cyberpunk-esque universe (with the addition of orcs, elves and trolls!) for inspiration. i think mine will just be humans though.
i'm still working on ideas for the RaTs novel! that will probably be a june thing too lol.
• write 15,000 words (23,844 / 15,000) • continue 4thewords streak (148 / 154) • complete mermay story (~15,000 / 15,000) • begin RaTs novel!
june is hereee! while the state of the world is .. not great (what else is new anymore) i feel a little bit revitalized in writing. starting a new story has been helpful! for the june challenge, i'm writing Electric Chaos, a cyberpunk novel set in the Seattle area. I don't usually write things based in the real world, and I'm not sure how similar it's going to be to the current day but.. it's a start on something different
also my unofficial goal is to write 32k so i can meet my yearly goal at the halfway mark ;]
• write 15,000 words (2,208 / 15,000) • 4thewords streak (157 / 184) • write at least 15,000 words in Electric Chaos for June Challenge (1,609 / 15,000)
