Who else is writing a mystery this year? Be it thrilling, cozy or anywhere in between!
I have a cozy mystery series I'm working on, having finished drafts of two of the seven planned books. It's been fun to try and lay down hints and red herrings and not be so obvious... (at least, I hope!)
This seems to be the genre that the most people are planning to try this year! I've read lots of Progress Threads (including my own) posting that they're going to try a Cozy Mystery for the first time! I think this thread might be a great place for writing advice once all those mysteries start happening!
Title: Mango Surprise
Series: Fruit Salad Mysteries
Detective: Joan Mason
And yes it drives me crazy that there is already a detective with the last name Mason but its just perfect for my character so I'm not changing it!

Lokanya I had the same feeling about the last name Stone. If a name IS the character then that is their name.
Macklan Stone is kinda mystery. I'm aiming for more thriller but there's a case to be solved. The KWIF (which I never got round to writing) had the two leads (Mack and Ailith) meeting over a murder case. Then there's the cosy mystery I would love to try for BOYB but I'm great at wanting to do things, less good at actually doing them. Still ideas are there!
Crime was my first writing genre. I wrote casefic for Without a Trace easily 15 or so years ago. I moved more into espionage afterwards and learned that I suck at being subtle so the 'laying down clues' thing makes me sweat as I don't know how I'll do with that.
Any tips are most welcome!
