Does anyone here do yoga, or have you either done it in the past or want to try it in future?
Do you practise a certain type of yoga? What do you use yoga for? What are your goals, if you have any?
Yoga With Adriene is a great resource on YouTube and she has lots of 30 Days of Yoga videos. I'm currently on Day 9 of her True series and really liking it.
A few years ago I used to go to the occasional Yin yoga class (I was and still am a total beginner) and back then I was definitely into it because of the stretching element and how relaxing it was, rather than building strength or anything like that. After a long day/week at work it was just what I needed to relieve stress. Life and other things got in the way, so I haven't been doing any yoga between then and now really.
These days, I still love the stretching and relaxation/meditative side of yoga, but I'd also like to improve my strength and flexibility. I can't touch my toes, so my goal is to one day be able to touch my toes and hopefully also do a proper forward fold. A downward dog with straight legs and my heels touching the ground would be awesome too. I'm being realistic and know I won't achieve these things overnight, but I'm intending to keep doing yoga after I finish my current 30 days, so it's something long-term for me to aim for.
My sister has been doing yoga for longer than I have, and she's pretty proud of being able to do crow pose. I'm not really fussed about those sorts of poses at this stage - one step at a time.
