I know you’re out there. You’re in the Discord chat. Let’s spread the love.
I think I'm becoming a fountain pen fanatic thanks to the Discord chat. Although given my habit of collecting pens, it could be argued it was only a matter of time. (And they're so pretty!)
I have a Jinhao 159 and a Jinhao purple Shark. There's a pretty pretty Jinhao 51a in blue/green ombre on the way (and I may have wishlisted the other two ombres on Goulet, even though I said I was going to stop ordering pens for a little while). I'm mostly still using cartridges, but I ordered ink samples with the last pen because I kinda wanted to start exploring the bottled inks, but didn't feel ready to jump in with a full bottle yet.

I've been really good with not buying any more ink recently (I've been handwriting a lot less since starting WFH, boo) but since the holidays are coming up.. 👀
My current pens and ink! A bit hard to see the gold shimmer in the wine divine, but it's there. I think the Blue Mysotis is one of my favorite inks - I only have a teeny bottle so I may have to get the full sized one at some point.
Mel from my experience, you need more pressure than you think (especially with steel nibs). And it works best if the pen is perfectly lined up to the paper so the tines touch equally. If that makes any sense.
I have decided I might start estate sale shopping to find some of these gorgeous pens people always seem to snag! We have repair people in NYC that can clean them up...
Since I got my shiny new pen all I want to do is write with it. Also got a sample of Noodlers Dark Matter that I filled the pen with and I'm enjoying that. Even though all I can think is this pen needs some teal ink in it at some point.
