Hey y'all! Can you believe this is the fourth installment of Maybee a Progress Thread? I'm starting to run out of titles.

As you can see, my name's Kaybee- well, kinda. My name's actually Rem, but I also go by Kaybee, Mitch, Finn and various other names because I have issues with making choices. The Dropping of a Name by J. Allyn Rosser is my favorite poem for a reason. For simplicity's sake, I go by Kaybee/Vremmu on here.

Anyway, this is my little corner of WriYe for 2021! I began my WriYe journey in 2018, when I was just some high school kid. It's been quite a few years since then, and now I'm just some college kid with slightly better fashion and a slightly better understanding of literature. Honestly, discovering WriYe has set me on a better track of writing, and while I literally say this every single year, I think I'm actually starting to get a hang of it. 

2020 has been...hectic to say the absolute least. I've pretty much complained about it throughout my 2020 progress thread. But maybe 2021 will be better. I hope?

Writing wise, my goal is 75k. I think that while I'm recovering from the hell 2020 dragged me through, I need a relatively low stress goal.  Especially since I'm about to head into my 6th semester of college, jam packed with Psychology courses. I'm on the waitlist for a writing course but we'll see how that goes.

Let's start with my goals. I still have to do my 2020 wrap up, but that'll be a problem for Rem on the 31st.

Writing Goals

• Write 75k words.
• Finish Part 1 and 2 of SIW. That's right folks, we're doing a partial goal. I'm tired.
• Do at least 3 WriYe Challenges
• Participate in Camp and NaNo
• Do something with my completed works.
• Have a good draft of literally any other writing project. I beg of you brain, please let me do this.
• Interact with more progress threads! Admittedly, I'm pretty much a loner when I'm on here. I get super nervous about posting on others threads, because I feel like I'm being annoying. Not to mention that I'm on the younger side (relatively speaking) which makes me feel like I'm being an annoying child. Well no more! In 2021, WE ARE BEING SOCIAL. Social anxiety will not hold me back. I will be supportive! I will be involved! I will think of more positive affirmations!

Personal Goals

• Don't drop out of college.
• Tour WeHo (if the pandemic ends)
• Learn to cook more recipes
• Exercise at least 2 hours a week.
• Maybe go to doctor. I haven't gone for a check up in years because of weird changes in what clinics I'm allowed to go to and other insurance nonsense. In 2021, we are being responsible and actually checking our health.
• Get new glasses. My frames are from high school. It's been almost 3 years. It's time for a change.

And the most important goal: SURVIVE!
I'm actually serious on that. In an effort to not die from my absolute raging trash fire of an immune system, I've been inside for nine months. Being chronically ill and prone to sickness sucks all the time, but 2020 took the cake. Not to mention just living where I live is not the safest for someone like me...here's to hoping my neighbors don't slash our tires again!

Projects... I have too many projects. Why do I do this to myself?

Focus:

When They Met
I really want to write about adults sometimes. This is the college story I've been wanting to write for three years now. When They Met is a novel that spans over 4 years, detailing how a group of friends met each other as well as how they navigate adult life. 

Genre(s): Coming-of-Age, Drama
Type: Novel. A long one, but it is one novel.

Rose and Felix
I wanted to write a children's book that was somewhat Judy Blume-esque and here it is. Rose and Felix is a story about two siblings that are two years apart and how they navigate through various parts of their lives. I based a lot of their interactions of my sister and I's own interactions when we were younger (and heck, even how we interact now). 

Genre(s): Children's
Type: 4 collections of short stories.

Searching in Windrip:

SIW deserves its own category at this point. I will finish this gosh darn thing if it's the last thing I do. This is a matter of pride. Frankly, I actually like the direction the story is heading, and with my acceptance that I'm never going to publish it, I feel a lot more motivated. 

So what is Searching in Windrip about? Short answer: a group of teens go searching for a magic book and cause a whole lot of turmoil in their lives due to magical shenanigans and general time related mishaps.
Long answer: It's a coming of age story centered about the lives of 7 teenagers who also have to deal with magical nonsense on top of adolescent nonsense. Searching in Windrip features: broken family dynamics, walking around a forest for six weeks, the faults of the public school system in small town California (which is totally not based on my experiences whatsoever, what gave you that idea), lots of bullying, tomato throwing, gender dysphoria, 50 pounds of betrayal, far too many time travel mechanics and more!  It's effectively a high school dramedy with a fantasy element. 

Genre(s): LGBTQ+, Urban Fantasy, YA.
Type: SIW is split into 7 Parts, each with varying amounts of arcs. I have no idea what this story is. Novels? Maybe? It's a long word document is what it is.

Other Writing Projects:

Whisper Project
WP is another personal project that I've been working on since 2015. It started out as an excuse to write about Little Tokyo and create a bunch of LGBTQ+ characters (as I was relatively young and still coming to grips with myself) and morphed into a Slice of Life sort of short stories collection based around high school drama. And it's set in actual Japan, which is probably not a smart move considering I'm American but whatever, no one will ever read this but me. 

The Unnamed Magic School Story
This is very rough, as in I only have the loose plot and the characters. This story is about a girl who goes to a magic school and all the chaos that brings. Is it connected to SIW? Very loosely. I like to think that this is a different timeline than SIW takes place in. 

Legacy
Legacy is a newer story I made this year that focuses on June Harvey, a single dad with two kids (Belle and Finch) as he moves into a new city. It is literally all bullet points, but eventually it evolves into a story about the challenges of a blended family.

Art Projects:

100 new faces
I'm going to draw 100 faces. I did this in 2019, and it actually helped me understand how faces work. Might as well do it again.

365 Sketches
I'm going to attempt to draw every day. Wish me luck.

I sure do love the phrase "navigate through life". Jeez.

Oh I hear you about the social anxiety *hugs* also the begging the brain to let you do it? Absolute mood. Good luck with everything! I hope 2021 picks up for you and congrats on staying in college thus far. If you navigated 2020 then sounds like you can do anything. Go you!! *waves pom-poms*

Looks like you have a solid list of goals for 2021. All the best to you to reach them all!

Also, the covers you show look great. Did you intentionally choose a rabbit with the ant quote?

Aw thanks! I worked hard on them, so I'm glad you like them. I did intentionally pick a rabbit with the ant quote, as both are kind of key features of the arc. I was actually originally going to put the rabbit instead of the tomato but found the tomato innately funnier and the rabbit more fitting with the ant quote rather than the long paragraph.

I can appreciate the effort you put into them, both in looks and the thought behind them. But I'll be honest: I'm a simple person, I see a rabbit beneath an ant quote and I am instantly amused.

Will you be doing covers for the remaining 3 arcs as well? If so, I'm looking forward to seeing them!

The other covers will be made when I actually finish part 1 (which will hopefully be soon). I have to still figure out what the symbols for Part 2 are going to be. I'm still unsure how many arcs it's going to be exactly, so the covers will depend on that.

Thanks so much! I try so hard with college, though most of my pain if 5000% self inflicted, no one told me to major and minor in two subjects that have nothing to do with each other, but I did it anyway! And you know what, you're right. If I made it through this awful year I can make it past any turmoil. Thanks for the little cheering support!

Thanks Ash! Your thread inspired me to get a bit more creative with mine, so I tried to decorate a  little this year! Hope I can keep up the same quality throughout the year.

Aw thank you! Like I said, I actually tried this time around. Who knew I could combine my love for messing around with Canva and my love for writing together? 
And thank you for the offer to beta! (And being interested in my projects, everyone irl is kind of tired of hearing about them haha) It'll probably be a long time until I get to that point, since I'm notorious for starting my projects over in a fit of  frustration, but I'll keep it in mind.
I know rationally that I'm not bothering anyone (thought thanks for the reassurance, it helps), but anxiety brain is anything but rational.  Oh anxiety, how I am plagued by thee. But I'm good, we're ignoring that this year, and (hopefully) socializing.

It's January!

We're starting off the year... not great. My good mood can only last so long after all, and right now, I am crashing. Ugh. Love that serotonin deficiency. 

Anyway, I just want to finish Part 1 of SIW by this month. So if I do about a chapter and a bit every week, I should be able to get that done. I even have a good outline for this arc. Problem: the aforementioned crash. Maybe if I rest today, I'll recharge. I don't know.

Goals for 1/1/21- 1/7/21

• Write 1435 words
• Finish I.IV.I
• Draw 7 sketches
• Finish 3 character charts.

Unrelated, but note to me in the future: spellcheck your posts. I swear, every post I make has some grammatical error or typo.

I hope you got past your crash (and I wanted to say I love the titles for Part 1).
