it's going.. i've been working more on mechs than my challenge story, oops. it just hit 74k and i still have a good chunk to go til the end. most of it needs rewritten and revised into something actually decent but that's a project for another time. ;] but i do find myself thinking about the revision process and how i would go about fixing all of the actual garbage i've written. so that's something new, i usually don't get to that stage of the process.
i've been struggling with what to draw recently - and i think i want to draw maps (drawing my plants is going to get old, quick) and it helps flesh out my stories a bit. not sure where i'm going to start, mechs needs like .. a galaxy map but not so much a traditional fantasy map. hmm, we will see.
• write 15,000 words (12,666 / 15,000) • 4thewords streak (170 / 184) • write at least 15,000 words in Electric Chaos for June Challenge (6,724 / 15,000)
• write 15,000 words (21,166 / 15,000) • 4thewords streak (170 / 184) • write at least 15,000 words in Electric Chaos for June Challenge (6,724 / 15,000)
year to date: 186,307 / 200,000
wow so another month is here. 2020 is half over and as i saw someone say on twitter - i am ready for its redemption arc.
starting next week, some of my coworkers are heading back to the office which, sigh. since we're doing so well with corona it seems ridiculous, but i get to stay home a little longer. how much longer is yet to be seen, but i stocked up on a brand new mask (it has a kitten holding a tiny knife because that's how i feel about my job.. and no one will be surprised lol) for the occasion. personally, i am here for mask life. a new fashion accessory that covers most of my expression? sign me up.
but in more important news - it's time for zombies!!
• write 20,000 words (0 / 20,000) • 4thewords streak (170 / 215) • write Zombie July challenge: A Calico Complication (0 / 20,000)
i won ;] but since it's only july, i'm raising my goal to 300k which basically keeps my daily goal around the same, so long as i write 50k for NaNo in november which. at this rate, i probably will. (what will the world be like in november?? i doubt i will be going home to visit, sigh) my math could be way off, but that's a problem for another time. i've committed. and i'm very proud of myself for accomplishing this much. it feels so productive, after not writing for so long.
my next true goal: finish something!
year to date: 200,137 / 300,000
in real life, not much has changed. i still work from home for now even though most of my team has gone back to the office. can't say i'm looking forward to it, tbh, though i think with a different job i think i would feel different. (if i no longer had a 2 bedroom apartment i would be foaming at the mouth to get out of here lol) which leads me to..
i got engaged at the end of june! (: we've been together for like .. 8 years or something, i'm not good with dates, it's fine. it was extremely nerdy but also very adorable. there was a custom magic card and a ring with elvish engraving involved, lol.
• write 20,000 words (13,830 / 20,000) • 4thewords streak (196 / 215) • write Zombie July challenge: A Calico Complication (13,830 / 20,000)
Oh wow, you're doing awesome! Congrats on hitting the 200,000 mark.
It sounds like you're not very happy with your line of work. It's good that your workplace is not forcing you back to work when you don't feel comfortable. The only good things about this pandemic is working from home is now a viable option for most people and all the designer masks. The kitty with the knife mask sounds hilarious. I'm sure everybody will get a kick out of it.
Also, congratulations on your engagement! The Elvish ring and custom card sound adorable. I wish both of you the best of luck.
ugh, so july is basically over. finally. as far as months go, it wasn't the worst one so far - but it's a bit surreal to realize it's august and i haven't done anything since march. march! time is a blur and not real. i met all my goals for the month, which i didn't realize i had set to only 20k. i hit 30k yesterday and The Calico Complication is on its last bits. It's complete and utter trash, but I liked the crew I came up with, so I expect to write more adventures with them, including their accidental 'we brought the zombie plague to the galaxy' oopsie.
i have no idea what i'm doing in august yet.. (: i need to finish Calico, and continue working on mechs, so that'll probably be my two main goals, and hopefully i won't get distracted by something new and shiny..
• write 20,000 words (34,728 / 20,000) • 4thewords streak (215 / 215) • write Zombie July challenge: A Calico Complication (34,728 / 20,000)
• code everyday! (10 / 25) - since 7/6 - i did okay, then fell off the wagon. but i'm back and ready to do more ;p
oh hell, it's august. the month of my birth, and i have honestly forgotten how old i'm turning. 33? 34? shit, no clue really. it doesn't matter anymore, does it? ;p edit: wriye tells me i'm only 32. thanks wriye!!
goals this month are pretty simple, keeping to my usual 20k goal, but i've got some pretty exciting goals (for me..) like finish a novel (even if its only ~40k) and write a short story. i am not someone who knows how to write something tightly plotted and without stupid tangents, so that'll be a fun one. i want to write something fantasy or fantasy horror (because the world is awful and why not) so - we'll see what i end up with.
real life wise, i'm still working at home. some of my coworkers have ventured back in, but we've already had one covid scare and i'm not ready to go back anyway. keep me home so i can night war! ;] still trying to work on my coding skills, a neverending trek for me.
• write 20,000 words (492 / 20,000) • 4thewords streak (216 / 246) • finish Zombie July challenge: A Calico Complication (34,728) • write a short! • plot the sequel to A Calico Complication (and come up with another title!)
other • code - finish a good chunk of .. something. lol • don't freak about getting older
