Can't you renew library books to keep them longer? I am sorry that you have been so unwell *hugs* I hope you feel better soon. Don't be hard on yourself. Well done with the critique marathon and just good luck in march! *waves pom-poms* I mean, yes, but not if someone else has requested them. I'd already renewed both books a few times so I was surprised that someone requested the book out from under me.

Writing: Book 1 edit Marathon is over, Chapter 23 is started, but having trouble making progress Deep and Blue final edit Deep and Blue cover copy RaTs
Reading: 5 books (Elvenbane, The Austen Escape, Lessons in Chemistry, 2 more) (1/5)
Art: 1 sketch per week (1/4)
Start 6-week Book If Forest book comes back, finish Been making good progress with the painting (and last) step on my Scotland travel journal, and it has the added bonus of being relaxing. The 6-week book is on track (7 out of 7 days so far) but I don't know how I'm liking it. I ran into an issue on Day 3 where I didn't have the art tool it wanted (a bamboo rod?) though I did really like yesterday's activity. I may quit it if I feel like I'm not getting what I want out of it, though I suppose it is good to try new things and different mediums. (I broke out my charcoal, which I'd never opened, and oh god is it messy)
Video Games: Garden Story, Alba: A Wildlife Story, Stardew Valley I played through Alba, which took me about four hours. It was a super cute little game, and I teared up at the end, so good job on the story front as well. I also have played a few hours of Stardew Valley. I poked around on my own and got a little frustrated with it but yesterday I played co-op with a friend who explained some stuff to me and showed me how to do some other things, so maybe it will be more fun now.The writing is being neglected which is driving me crazy, but every time I sit down to do it I can't focus. Gaaaaaaah what the hell

Maybe your marathon burned you out a little and you need a break? The fact that you are doing art regularly will also be taking up a lot of creative spoons. You are doing great! Good luck with everything this month! *waves pom-poms*

Writing: Book 1 edit Finished Chapter 23, need to figure out if I need a new Chapter 24 Deep and Blue final edit Deep and Blue cover copy RaTs
Reading: 5 books (Elvenbane, The Austen Escape, Lessons in Chemistry, 2 more) (2/5) I'm almost done with The Austen Escape but I've done this thing where I'm reading three books at once which is illadvised
Art: 1 sketch per week (2/4)
Start 6-week Book If Forest book comes back, finish I finished my sketch journal! \o/ And I have my new one ready so I can start that next week.
Video Games: Garden Story, Alba: A Wildlife Story, Stardew Valley I've been playing Stardew on and off with and without my friend, but it's definitely a long term game and it can probably be played forever, so I've downloaded Cleo - A Pirate's Tale which the Internet tells me should be about 5-6 hours to beat. It's spring break next week (though technically it started Wednesday night because yesterday and today are snow days) so my plan is to focus on not Book 1 since everyone will be around and we'll be out and about.

Yay for finishing your sketch journal!!!! That's a HUGE accomplishment *cheers*. I hear you on Stardew Valley. I never really got into that game and it being endless is possibly one of the reasons. Good luck next week *waves pom-poms*

Hey-ho, everybody! Writing: Book 1 edit Planned out Chapter 24 and promptly did not touch for the rest of the month
Deep and Blue final edit Deep and Blue cover copy I made a draft but have gotten wildly different feedback so I'm not sure where to go from here. RaTs Like, 75% done. Sigh.
Reading: 5 books (Elvenbane, The Austen Escape, Lessons in Chemistry, 2 more) (4/5) Mostly done with Lessons in Chemistry. Alas. I see a trend.
Art:
1 sketch per week (4/4)
Start 6-week Book
If Forest book comes back, finish Few days behind on the 6-week book, almost done with the forest book (which came back on, oh, Friday or something)
Video Games: Garden Story, Alba: A Wildlife Story, Stardew Valley Nothing new here. I did play Feather for approximately 20 minutes and decide it was dumb, so it got categorized, huzzah! March was middling productive. More productive in other areas than some.

Sooo, I am seeing a trend, which I was a bit afraid of, which is where, by adding in alternate goals, some things that are lower priority are getting done more often than more important things. (Specifically the art goals, because the art is relaxing.) I've got to work on prioritization. Writing: Book 1 edit Deep and Blue Format Deep and Blue Copy Finish March RaTs Deep and Blue is being published on May 1, so that's top priority.
Reading: 5 books (Lessons in Chemistry, Spooky Yellowstone, The Poison Squad, 2 more) I picked a narrower book for my "Book Lying About the House" book this month, so hopefully it will be done before the end of the month.
Art: 1 sketch per week Finish 6-week Book Finish Forest Book I need to look more closely at the books going forward, too--make sure I'm not making a time commitment that is going to take time from other goals.
Video Games: Cleo - A Pirate's Tale, Here Comes Niko!, Princess Farmer I've specifically picked games that are shorter (averaging 4-6 hours to complete) to make sure video games aren't taking away from the writing. April is going to be rough--I have a big volunteer commitment next week that I need to GET ON, and I'm chaperoning a field trip tomorrow, and single parenting for two weeks at the end of the month. But we'll just take some deep breaths and push through.

This is really smart. You have assessed and counter-moved. I am impressed. Good luck with everything this month. Try not to be hard on yourself. It sounds like you have some stressful stuff happening and if the art relaxes you (first tell me how as it stresses me out so bad lol) it's ok. I mean I do totally get wanting to do stuff and avoiding it because it's hard/overwhelming/intimidating etc. It's a tricky one but I don't know, I just want you to be happy. Do what makes you happy and good luck! *waves pom-poms*

galactic-pirates - The art is relaxing because I'm not doing anything for it. It's art for the sake of art, so I just sketch a little thing and then maybe color it, and hopefully it looks nice but sometimes it doesn't, and that's okay because I'm just doing it to do it. Every now and then I think about doing an artshow or something, but that adds stress, and so I don't. Writing: Book 1 edit
Deep and Blue Format Deep and Blue Copy
Finish March RaTs My hope is to finish the copy/book description today and then I can go back to Book 1.
Reading: 5 books (Lessons in Chemistry, Spooky Yellowstone, The Poison Squad, 2 more) I'm also most of the way through Spooky Yellowstone. I've started a couple of other books but I'm not getting through them fast, and am considering DNFing one, which I almost never do.
Art: 1 sketch per week (1/4) Finish 6-week Book Finish Forest Book One more session with the Forest book and I'll be done, and I'm on Day 39 out of 45 of the 6-week book (though I am admittedly skipping some days due to lack of supplies or inability to go to the location wanted).
Video Games: Cleo - A Pirate's Tale, Here Comes Niko!, Princess Farmer Princess Farmer was fun! I moved it into my "Fun!" section which is for games that have a lot of replayability (and that I want to replay, lol). I've made it through the field trip (and a sleepover), and I just need to get some things together for the volunteer commitment tomorrow (which I would be doing already but my husband asked me to wait for him and he's taking forever). Wheeeee. The month's gone okay but I really do need to go back to Book 1 and cover copy is the WORST.

Sounds like you had a good week! Well done *cheers*. I have some games like that. I call it the "progression" section, as isn't simple to just finish them in one go. By cover copy do you mean blurb? Those are hard, my sympathies. Good luck next week! *waves pom-poms*

Writing: Book 1 edit Back to it, yay! I wrote about 500 words on a brand new chapter yesterday. I don't have any buffer between where I am and my critique group now, so I've got to focus focus focus.
Deep and Blue Format
Deep and Blue Copy
Finish March RaTs Deep and Blue is ready to go, aside from actually uploading it! \o/
Reading: 5 books (Lessons in Chemistry, Spooky Yellowstone, The Poison Squad, 2 more) (3/5) I haven't really read in the past week. Oops.
Art: 1 sketch per week (1/4) Finish 6-week Book Finish Forest Book Also did not do any art.
Video Games: Cleo - A Pirate's Tale, Here Comes Niko!, Princess Farmer I played Here Comes Niko! for about an hour (and my daughter tried to complete the fishing mini-game for another hour and a half) but in the end I moved it into the "Tried but Meh" category. The concept is cute but the controls and difficulty of the puzzles made it too hard (which seems to be an ongoing problem from the reviews). May go back and poke A Short Hike! from last month some more, since I didn't get very far in that one. One more volunteer commitment for the month (on Saturday) and still the two weeks of single parenting to go. Oh, and here's the cover copy for Deep and Blue, since I believe galactic-pirates asked after I posted the cover: ETA: Actually, making a section for longer games is a good idea! It'll get them categorized and I can work on them when I get a chance. Thanks!

Oooooooh that blurb is very compelling! It sets the scene well and asks a lot of questions. I will have to read that if you make it available? Glad I could help with my suggestion re: the games! I used to be terrible at starting games and never finishing them so I made a rule that I had to focus on only one at a time, but I introduced the 'progression' section because to 100%/platinum some games is just too much. Like I adore Uncharted so much but the Platinum requires the ultra hard difficulty mode (and I am a normal mode gamer at best). It is a frustrating slog of hundreds of attempts to get past every checkpoint. So I called that game 'done' when I finished the first playthrough and moved it to 'progression' and I poke at it when I feel like it. Or the Lego Star Wars game, that's probably hundreds of hours to 100% that. That's a game to dip in and out of, not marathon. Some guys are just like that. I think you mentioned Stardew Valley? That's definitely a dip in and out game as well. Ooops sorry going on. Good luck next week! Cheering for you as always

Writing: Book 1 edit I've only gotten, like, two pages done on the current chapter over the last week. Not sure why it's not going.
Deep and Blue Format
Deep and Blue Copy
Finish March RaTs
Reading: 5 books (Lessons in Chemistry, Spooky Yellowstone, The Poison Squad, 2 more) (4/5) Reading again. Almost done with the 5th book, which is Patrick Stewart's memoir.
Art: 1 sketch per week (2/4)
Finish 6-week Book Finish Forest Book Did get my act together enough to finish the 6-week book but did not touch the Forest book again. Whoops.
Video Games: Cleo - A Pirate's Tale, Here Comes Niko!, Princess Farmer I finished the first chapter of Cleo but didn't beat the game. I've been wildly unproductive the last few days, watching YouTube and playing Minesweeper instead of doing anything remotely useful. I suspect the extended single parenting is weighing me down over time. Just frustrating all around. I don't necessarily need to write, but there's certainly better things to do than YouTube and Minesweeper for recharging. Like, at least play a real video game. Deep and Blue is live now! I'm trying KDP Select with it. It's here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2WXSY12May goals in a minute.

God, I can't believe it's already May. The end of the school year is always a bit of a mess--teacher presents, and I've got a book I ask the kids' teachers to sign (I'm going to give these books to them when they graduate high school), and doing all the forms for summer camp and blah blah blah. Writing: Book 1 edit RaTs I'm, like, 85% on the edit. I would very much like it to be done.
Reading: 4 books (Cinder, Whose Body?, 2 more)
Art: 1 sketch per week Finish Forest Book Select next book
Video Games: Cleo - A Pirate's Tale, Evan's Remains, Phantasmagoria Plan is to finish up Cleo, beat Evan's Remains unless it sucks (about 3 hours of play time, according to the Internet), and try out Phantasmagoria. Horror games are very hit or miss for me. I bought a Sierra Games bundle once upon a time because I always used to read the Sierra catalog which came with the games and I always wanted to play a lot of them that I never got to, but of course I've still never played them because, well. The good news is that I'm signed up for a writers' retreat at the end of the month, but the bad news is that my husband will probably be out of the country during it, so there's the added stress of trying to figure out who is going to watch the kids/dog and how. It may not be worth the stress and I might just cancel (if I can).

It always surprises me to read end of the school year. UK schools don’t break up until well into mid-July like 21st or something. That sucks that you might not get your retreat because of your husbands travel *hugs* Good luck with your edit! You are close, and you can do it. I believe in you! *waves pom-poms*
