Everyone has that novel/story that just died. Maybe you weren't ready to write it. Maybe it was too ambitious. Maybe the main character needed a lobotomy and you didn't have an ice pick handy. Either way, it died and you haven't wanted to try and electrocute it back to life yet. This is your chance to get some voltage into those dead words! Here are the rules: - Find that story that you wrote that just died. Or just never came out right. Or just needs a complete overhaul. Take it out of the trunk if it has some chance at life. (If it's already decaying, find another. Even a thousand jolts can revive that.)
- Tell us the title and a short summary of the story.
- Tell us why you think it died -- or if you don't know, tell us what you want to improve.
- Choose how many words you want to get rewritten. And I am not talking about changing a few words around to make it sound better. Really dig deep into this novel, slice it to shreds, and rearrange its insides.
- Win!

Why It Died - it's actually a complete story, I just decided at some point to rewrite it, and elements of the main plot have become rather close to home since the original writing. Looking at the last rewrite attempt, I worked on the first five chapters (with some missing scenes). Seven chapters to go. My writing style has changed in the intervening years since the original, and while the overall plot is okay, I want to develop some of the subplots.
